Well, I didn’t actually see her in person…just on FB. She had commented on someones post and a light went on in my head. It was an, Oh Yeah…Wow, I remember her, moment. Her name was/is Amy. Amy G., but she is married now, so Amy P. She was/is 2 years older than me, and I met her through my neighbor, Brandon. This was during High School and I was a Sophomore. My neighbor is 2 years older as well, so they were both Seniors. I had seen her before but didn’t know her…Brandon was friends with her and would talk about her to me sometimes, etc.
Anyway, we met at another friend’s house, that I met through Brandon as well. He lived with his Grandmother and she was out of town, so he had a party. His name is Brad H. I was probably the youngest there, but it didn’t really matter to me. I was used to hanging out with this older crowd because of Brandon.
The mind is a strange thing because as I’m typing this, more and more memories are flooding in from that night. I remember playing drinking games with these older guys. They had already graduated and I guess they were having fun getting me to drink a lot, not knowing the games.
I still remember sitting at the kitchen table and Depeche Mode’s Blasphemous Rumors came on. Anyway, Amy and I started to talk at some point during the evening. I guess you could say we had a moment later on…without getting into details. I remember that her ride was going to leave her because she wanted to stay. She talked them into staying a little longer.
I would occasionally see her at school, but we didn’t talk much. I would see her out at parties, etc. throughout the rest of that year. Sometimes, we’d share another moment and sometimes not.
When I got on FB how ever many years ago, she requested me as a friend. We caught up and talked about our families, etc. Then she either left FB for a while or dropped me. Anyway, when I saw her on FB, I had forgotten about her contacting me how ever many years ago and just thought about that year.
Maybe a little too much explanation, but that is how my brain works. I’m even picturing Brad H.’s car, some of the other people I didn’t mention and her friends car…Saying Goodbye outside. Man oh Man, the Brain is Strange, but Cool!
